DA PRESENÇA DE XENÓFANES NO POEMA DE
PARMÊNIDES: UM ENSAIO
SOBRE A CONSTRUÇÃO
HISTÓRICA DO PENSAMENTO FILOSÓFICO

RESUMO: Inseridos num momento histórico em que a literatura grega, em função do surgimento da
filosofia, começará a conhecer a possibilidade de conceber o homem e o cosmo de modo não-mítico,
Xenófanes e Parmênides inscrevem-se com os seus respectivos poemas não apenas na tradição que
efetiva essa possibilidade, mas também num movimento filosófico que significou, também para a
filosofia, a inauguração de uma forma francamente nova e original de pensar, a abstração, conformando
assim, para o desenvolvimento histórico do intelecto ocidental, uma modalidade de pensamento até então
impensada.

ABSTRACT: Being part of a historical moment in which the greek literature, due to the birth of
philosophy, begins to understand the man and the cosmos according to non-myhtical patterns,
Xenophanes and Parmenides, with their poems, are not only part of the tradition that made this change
possible, but also part of a movement that meant a whole new way of thinking in philosophy and in
western culture, namely, the abstraction.
