RESUMO: Este artigo inicialmente discute as obras completas de Jorge Andrade, com o propósito de
mostrar como este dramaturgo re-elabora temas da História brasileira do ponto de vista estético e, em
seguida, analisa de maneira detalhada a peça de teatro O Sumidouro.

ABSTRACT: This article initially argues the Jorge Andrade’s collected works, with the intention to
show as this dramaturgist re-elaborates subjects of Brazilian History of the aesthetic point of view and,
after that, it analyzes in detailed way the play O Sumidouro.
