TODA PALAVRA GUARDA UMA CILADA: TORQUATO
NETO ENTRE A VERTIGEM E A VIAGEM

RESUMO: Muito já se escreveu sobre Torquato Neto e sua atividade intelectual. Entretanto, alguma coisa permanece na sombra, especialmente no concernente à apropriação histórica de seus textos. A ênfase dada aos textos reunidos em Os últimos dias de Paupéria, os quais ganharam grande publicidade a partir do início dos anos setenta, acabou por ofuscar boa parte da produção literária de Torquato. Do mesmo modo, textos importantes, como Arte e cultura popular, permanecem inéditos e ofuscados pela intensidade do foco que se projeta sobre o “Torquato tropicalista”. Este texto, com o intuito de refletir sobre esse silêncio, propõe uma apropriação e uma revisão histórica dos textos torquateanos, de modo que eles possam expressar as condições de existir para parte da juventude brasileira nos anos sessenta.

ABSTRACT: A lot has been written about Torquato Neto and his intellectual activity. However,
something remains in the shade, specially concerning the historical appropriation of his texts. The given emphasis to the texts of the book united Last days of Paupéria, in which had big publicity from the beginning of the years seventy, some part of the literary production of Torquato ended up dazed. In the same way, important texts, as Art and popular culture, remain unpublished and dazed by the intensity of the focus in the project about “Torquato tropicalista”. This text, inside the spirit to reflect about that silence, proposes a historical appropriation revision of the torquateanos texts so they can express the conditions of existence for part of the Brazilian youth in the sixties.
