A CIDADE “AO RÉS DO CHÃO”: OS CARIOCAS E AS
CARIOCAS POR SÉRGIO PORTO E STANISLAW PONTE PRETA

RESUMO: No campo dos estudos sobre a estreita relação entre literatura e, mais especificamente, a crônica jornalística – e a conformação de identidades culturais, este artigo aborda os elementos selecionados pelo cronista Sérgio Porto e seu heterônimo literário Stanislaw Ponte Preta na identificação de um “jeito de ser” carioca. A experiência urbana fez desse autor intérprete de uma nova realidade que se apresentava para o Rio de Janeiro e seus habitantes, no momento de inserção do Brasil na modernidade da segunda metade dos anos cinqüenta e início dos sessenta do século XX, período de transferência da capital federal para Brasília e da criação do estado da Guanabara.

ABSTRACT: In the study area about the relation between literature and, more specifically, to journalistic chronic – and the resignation of cultural identities, this article is based on researches aiming to show the major role played by the urban chronicler Sérgio Porto and his literary pen name Stanislaw Ponte Preta in constituting the cultural elements of a “carioca way of living”. The urban experiences did of that author an interpreter of a new reality that was presented for Rio de Janeiro and his inhabitants, in the moment of insertion of Brazil in the modernity of the second half of the 50s and early 60s of the XX century, when the federal capital was moved to Brasilia and the state of Guanabara was created.
