PODER PESSOAL E CULTURA POLÍTICA NO SUL DE MINAS NO PERÍODO REGENCIAL E PRIMEIRO DECÊNIO DO SEGUNDO REINADO

RESUMO: Este artigo investiga o processo de constituição da forma de pensar e operar a política no sul de Minas no período que vai do início do Período Regencial ao fim dos anos 40 do século XIX, tornandose modelo para as gerações futuras. Marcada pela adesão incondicional ao projeto político dos liberais moderados, hegemônicos no cenário político brasileiro, a elite social dominante no sul de Minas erigiu uma visão de mundo e das relações sociais marcadamente conservadora e governista, ancorada em seu poder pessoal avultado pela ausência de uma sociedade mais bem estruturada e institucionalizada politicamente.

ABSTRACT: This article researches the process of constituition of the way of thinking and making politcs in the south of Minas, between the Regencial age to the end of the 40’s in XIX century, becaming a model for the future generations. The social elite supported the political project of the Moderated Liberals, political group that dominated the scene at the moment, of an inconditional way. Thus, it made a conservative perspective and it guaranted support to the goverment, based in the personal power increased by the lack of a stronger structurated and politicaly institutionalizated society.
