CAIPIRAS NUMA CIDADE EM TRANSFORMAÇÃO

RESUMO: Este artigo é parte de nossa pesquisa de mestrado cuja temática refere-se a um tipo de teatro que fez bastante sucesso nos palcos paulistanos nas primeiras décadas do século XX, o qual trazia o caipira entre as personagens principais de suas tramas. A questão que tentaremos explorar aqui é a de compreender por meio de duas peças teatrais: São Paulo Futuro (1914) e Clevelândia (1927), as novas sensações, projeções e frustrações de uma cidade em constante mudança nas primeiras décadas do século XX, narradas pela personagem caipira.

ABSTRACT: This article is part of our Master’s degree research whose theme is related to a kind of theater that was a success in São Paulo stages in the first decades of the twentieth century and brought the backwoods man among the main characters of this plots. The question that we will try to explore is in order to comprehend through of two plays: São Paulo Futuro (1914) and Clevelândia (1927), the new sensations, plans and frustrations of a city in modification in the first decades of the twentieth century, telled by backwoods man character.
