EMERGÊNCIA DO ESTEREÓTIPO DA POBREZA
PIAUIENSE NOS ANOS 1950 E 1960

RESUMO: Este artigo discute a produção do estereótipo da pobreza piauiense do final dos anos 1950 até os anos 1960. Atravessando diferentes domínios de enunciados, como a literatura, os discursos econômicos e as matérias de jornal, além de manter relações inextricáveis com as práticas desenvolvimentistas encetadas pelos governos populistas, o tema da pobreza piauiense era reiterado em enunciados de dentro e de fora do Piauí, na busca por soluções para a crise econômica que o Estado vivia então, e para sua inserção nas instituições que estavam sendo criadas para auxiliar o Nordeste.

ABSTRACT: This paper talks about the production of poverty’s stereotype in the brazilian state of Piauí, since the end of 1950’s to the 1960’s. Crossing different fields of enunciates, like the literacy, the economic discourses and the journal’s texts, and keeping relations with the practices of development started by the brazilian “populists” governments, the theme of poverty was repeated in enunciates inside and out of Piauí, in the search for solutions to the economic crisis that the state was living, and to its insertion in the departments created to help the region of brazilian “Nordeste” (Northeast).
