A CIDADE DECIFRADA
DE ATENAS A BAGDÁ – DE PLATÃO A AL-FARABI
REMINISCÊNCIAS PLATÔNICAS E FARABIANAS EM MATRIX

RESUMO: A concepção de cidade, como estrutura para a satisfação dos interesses humanos, é objeto de estudos há séculos. Nesse artigo a intenção é propor uma discussão acerca do modelo de cidade ideal constante em “A República”, de Platão e, num segundo momento, analisar a proposta de cidade virtuosa de Al-Farabi. A partir do desenvolvimento desses dois conceitos de cidade, apresentar-se-á a importancia da cidade na trama do filme Matrix e como, em muitos aspectos, as questões propostas por Platão e Al- Farabi retornam com novas e velhas roupagens. Pretende-se, com isso, demonstrar que a base referencial que fundamenta a trama de alguns filmes, ditos hollywoodianos, como Matrix, está ligada aos pensamentos filosóficos e, isso proporciona releituras modernizadas de antigos anseios da humanidade.

ABSTRACT: The meaning of city as a structure for satisfaction of the human wellbeing has been object of studies for centuries. The aim of this article is propose a debate about the model of the ideal city found out in “The Republic” by Plato and, on sequence, analyze the propose of Al-Farabi’s virtuous city. From the knowledge of these two concepts of city, it’ll show the importance of city on the plot of the film “The Matrix” and how the questions proposed by Plato and Al-Farabi returned with new and old meanings. Our proposal is demonstrate that the main reference basing the plots of some films from Hollywood, as “The Matrix”, is connected with the philosophical thoughts and, it provides new understandings of old and new yearnings humanity.
