O ENSAIO SOCIOLÓGICO DE GILBERTO FREYRE:
DIALOGISMO DE FORMAS DISCURSIVAS

RESUMO: O artigo aponta para duas bases fundamentais do ensaio de Gilberto Freyre, em particular, Casa-Grande & Senzala — o discurso científico e a narrativa literária, que dialogam em harmonia e estabelecem um campo de sentidos singular nas Ciências Sociais do início do século XX. Dessa forma, o ensaio freyreano fez uma das interpretações mais ricas, inovadoras, polêmicas e contraditórias do Brasil. Para afirmar e comprovar que a sociedade e a cultura brasileira são de natureza híbrida, o autor constrói também um texto híbrido, que dialoga com diversas formas de representação, estabelecendo, assim, uma comunhão perfeita entre o objeto de investigação e o texto que o representa.

ABSTRACT: The article detects that Casa-grande & Senzala, by Gilberto Freyre, is built through two fundamental bases — the scientific discourse and the literary narrative —, which communicate harmonically and establish a singular semantic field within Social Sciences in the beginning of the twentieth century. I this way, Casa-grande & Senzala provided one of the richest, newest, most polemic and contradictory interpretations of Brazil. In order to affirm and prove that the Brazilian society and culture are of a hybrid nature, the author also produces a hybrid text which communicates with several ways or representation, establishing, thus, a perfect communion between the investigation object and the text which represents it.
