RESUMO: A pesquisa versa sobre o rádio no Piauí tendo como recorte temporal trinta anos, no período compreendido entre 1940-1970, quando se inicia a instalação da primeira emissora de rádio, sendo o outro limite a instalação da primeira emissora de televisão. Este artigo trabalha com as lembranças e a memória de homens e mulheres que atuaram no rádio durante o período acima estabelecido. Empregou-se a metodologia/técnica da História Oral por duas razões básicas: a primeira é resultado do descuido dos empresários com a documentação relacionada com a história e a memória desse meio de comunicação de massa no Piauí; a segunda é que dadas as condições de preservação das fontes escritas e sonoras, a única saída para a construção desta história era o emprego da metodologia mencionada.

ABSTRACT: This research argues about the radio in Piauí in a period of thirty years, which is between 1940-1970, this because it begins with the installation of the first radio broadcasting station and the other limit is the installation of the first television broadcasting station. This article leads with remembrances and memory of men and women who acted in radio during the period mentioned above. It was used the methodology/technique of Oral History for two basic reasons: the first one is a result of negligence of the enterprisers in relation to the documentation linked to history and memory of this mass media in Piauí; the second means that given conditions of preservation of the construction and sonorous sources, the only way out to the construction of this history was the use of the mentioned methodology.
