RESUMO: Este artigo recupera a forma do espetáculo da pantomima e do teatro feito nas barracas das
ferias francesas no período anterior a Revolução Francesa. Apesar de serem marginais na história do
teatro, por não se fundamentar na palavra, se constituíram como formas teatrais que definiram o teatro no
século XIX e XX, abrindo novos paradigmas para a análise e constituição do espetáculo teatral.

ABSTRACT: This paper recovers the theatrical performances of pantomime and also the theater made at
the French fairs before the French Revolution. This kind of performance, made mainly without words,
spite been marginal in the theatrical history, opens new paradigms to the theater analysis and its
knowledge, and it is fundamental to the theater development during the nineteenth and twenty century.
